Scavenger Hunt - Famous Artists

In this activity we were to make a web-based scavenger hunt for our students. I picked to do it on famous artists, this is a good activity for my students to do the basic research on famous artists. This way they can become more familiar with introductory level facts on artists. I found this activity to be simple to put together and enriching for my students to do. Check it out HERE.

Prezi.com

This photo-based website looks like it has a good idea to it but I found it frustrating and unorganized. I didn't like how you can place you photos on an background that never ends in every direction. The example given was impressive and I think it would be a good tool for historical events on people or places but to just put together a photo montage it seemed to be too confusing for me. It took forever to download my pictures and it seems like their is not enough edit options for you photos. I ended up just putting my pictures around my title and just put them in order of download. Check out my Prezi project HERE.

Wunderground Activity

Spreadsheet

In my classroom I could use this activity by having my students get information on famous artist's town that they were born in and map the high and low of that day. They can then create a chart and they would have to use all of the customizing tools to make thier chart as "pretty" as possible. They would have to use thier knowledge on color.

Handout Q's & A's

In my classroom students can use this to help them see the different cultures throughout Las Vegas. This can lead to discussions about how art from different cultures can help shape thier cultures.

Since I am an art teacher, I can incorporate this activity in many ways. The first thing that comes to mind is taking the students picture and uploading on this website and having the students use one effect and then print the picture out so students can then trace their image in simple form of themselves and use any medium I see fit to use and make the a unique portrait of themselves.
